Visitors to Surfaces 2012 had an unexpected surprise when a large group of dancers started dancing to MC Hammer in a flash mob.
Almost one hundred dancers dressed in MC Hammer style trousers and t-shirts with the title of the hit Can’t Touch This broke in to a routine in the middle of the well-known flooring exhibition.
The stunt certainly succeeded in promoting the flooring as several video clips and photographs were quickly uploaded to several websites.
Each of the dancers started out in a red pair of the infamous trousers teamed with a casual top and during the routine the tops were removed to reveal the slogan t-shirts and underneath the trousers were a second pair in purple.
It was revealed that the dancers were taking part in a promotion for one of the Mohawk products which was being exhibited at the flooring event.
The Mohawk SmartStrand carpet is known for stain resistance qualities which are said to last for the lifetime of the carpet.
The Can’t Touch This song was thought to be a comment on the high level of stain protection, as well as the top customer satisfaction rating that the carpet has been awarded.
A new American flooring trend could become an international style favourite, judging by the positive reaction in the U.S.
The big trends for 2012 are likely to involve colour and more sustainable flooring choices, but there is a new fashion for the particular style of floor.
Although parquet floors were big for a few years the new trend is for wide plank hardwood floors, which creates a totally different look to slimmer planks.
The wider floorboards offer a more natural appearance and have a much clearer style across the floor, which also makes rooms look bigger.
The natural look is complimented by a brushed finish, which removes the newest growth marks and leaves the natural beauty of the timber.
This results in a truly authentic looking wooden floor which will be an investment for the home for many years to come.
