Let's talk flooring!

Hi I'm new to this site and lookng for some advice. I recently bought flooring from Cala flooring. I got africian teak 1/2" engineered by 5" wide. The flooring looks beautifful but support from manufacture is terrible. The only thing they recommend is to staple it or glue it, no other information is provided. Not sure if it needs a vapor barrier. How long to acclimate. A few things I'm wondering is what is the best tool to install this flooring? I like the bostitch because they have a adjustable heights for the stapler entery into the tongue. but not sure witch one to buy. I called bostitch and they said the m111 I don't think thats right, might leave dimples on surface. any advice from the pros would be nice. There 18 gauge stapler longest staple is only an 1inch. I would think a 1 1/4" staple would be better. They also have a 20 gauge stapler. any advise guys....thanks Dan I've attached a picture of the flooring

That was me Dan, I copied part of Melvins post.

I'm gonna give so you free advice and I don't usually offer it to DIY'rs so take it anyway you want.

First warning about a manufacture is when they don't offer up any installation requirements even when you ask.

That should be a warning that when you do have a problem what do you think is going to happen? You think they will jump at the chance to help you out seeings how they might have a potential defective product? Really? Seriously?

Now for the advice, take it back and buy some good wood. Something name brand even if you have to pay a restocking fee.

I very recently posted installation requirements on this site from a chinese manufacture who's instructions beat the hell outa many American ones even. And they state they offer lifetime warranty on delamination as well. Something you WON'T see from many manufactures at all. Plus they have a new state of the art manufacturing facility.

Now do some more research.
I originally was going with br-111, but colors in the flooring where less pleasing. Well this is news of course I don't like to here on returning what I have. I did get samples of it before buying. It was a 9-13ply layer, four corner beveal, 2 mm african teak ware layer. 7 coats alumium oxide finish. I couldn't find and good or bad comments on it quaility wise other then it's beautiful looking. How ever I understand your comments if they don't support installation why would they do anything for you if you had a problem. Well it's bought and paid for. and I would have to have it shipped. all the boxes are open unwrapped to acclimate. I think I'm going to have to stay with what I have at this point. but thanks for your advise
thanks floorguy, Your reason for putting down felt makes sense even if it's not required as a vapor barrier for this type of flooring. I what to lessen the squeaks as much as possible. thanks for the adivse......
Well I am sure that Chinese warranty isn't worth the rice paper it is printed on!

LOL!

No but you can do it like that, gotta be somewhat creative at times.

So let me think about this a minute. Your saying and I've heard this plenty of times, that any chinese warranty will not be honored because of why?

Does that mean any other chinese product is treated the same? How about chinese cars, heck I'd bet nearly 80 percent of anything you buy out there is made in China now.
my pontiac vibe has a toyota drive train and the body is skinned by pontiac. infact the vibe and matrix vehicles come off the same assembly line. there the same car with different bodies. I've heard exsotic flooring is shipped from over seas unfinished and completed here. kinda the same thing too...
Well lots of Chinese laminates, and hwoods come and go. Not like there is a US company you can hold their feet to the fire!
Don't kid yourself Cap't many U.S. manufactures will deny your claims as easily as foreign ones will.

I would however stay away from the chinese sheetrock. ;)
