Looks like the Prefinished Cumaru that I am installing, 'cept not in 80% of the material maybe 2-5%. I don't feel that is acceptable as a Normal condition nor should you in 80% of that material...........
The way I figure it, 2 to 5 percent it gets culled out. Eighty percent and the manufactures QC let it go as thats the way it is. Who am I to say their finish is unacceptable? I just get paid to install it.
Thats totally unacceptable to me tell them u can get a better product and sell them a better refinished and make a profit.
I agree and because I find it unacceptable that is why I push the unfinished versions. Have a 2000 sqft Tigerwood job coming up just before X-mas, I could've taken the easy route and gone with the prefinished but I prefer the unfinished. This Cumaru job the HO bought the product and I like you is getting paid to install it, doesn't make right. I mean I follow you guys about moisture testing and manufacturer warranties and such, so on that line of thought who are you to question their product requirements if you can't question their finish? Huh?
Well there's a huge difference between 5% and 80%. And I like you had nothing to do with the sale.

The way I see it is if the percentage is that high then thats the way they wanted it. The customer has accepted it and said nothing about it.

Is there some sort of stopping point or acceptable level ....standard on the percentage? Looks to me like there is finish down in those questionable spots. Would you call that dishout? Do you ever have dishout and do onsite jobs have an acceptable level of dishout? Hmmmmm

I perfer prefinished myself because that way I have no liability in the matter, plus I don't do sand and finish. lol
I actually had nothhing to do with the sale, the product was sold and I refered as an installer.

Depends on how that material was marketed as to if that's how they wanted it.........
Well if the customer has decided that the appearance is acceptable, then there is no issue, the person that spent the money has the final say if they are happy then everyone else should be happy. Unless of course they are happy cause they stiffed the installer or retailer for the balance due.
I got paid! Actually before I was even finished. The GC walked in an wrote the check when I was going into the walk in closet. I guess it was an incentive to finish the job Saturday cus cabinets were coming in on Monday. Plus the tiles guys still had the bathroom to do. Ha ha

So I guess there is no real standard on dishout in prefinished? Yes, no?
You got paid?!?!?!?!?! Then why the fuck do you care if the product is pitted?

So I guess you can question a manufacturers site/ installation requirements but not their finish? Unless ofcourse the customer complained and you weren't getting paid until the condition rectified, then you'd raise holy hell ;)

Peace~ LOL
Not sure how the veneer is manufactured Lee. Does it matter? I think you know about these issues.

Well Dale, I am just not sure about wether or not this type of finish issue (dishout?) bears investigation, hence the question. And for further reference if it happens again and someone calls attention to it, I'd like to be able to answer them.

Yes, if the man sent it and it is not within industry finish standards and my job got stopped I would certainly raise holy hell. ha ha

Site installation requirements are written on paper but yet I see nothing about finish issues on the instructions or anywhere else for that matter.

Now if the finish starts having problems like peeling or premature wear in these spots I'd also like to know what to tell the consumer.

It ain't all black and white sonny, more along those grey tones.
Grey??? Thats an "optimistic" outlook!!!!!!!! LOL

he just misses his drama classes.
