Let's talk flooring!
Gainfully Unemployed
Got fired from Lowe's this week. It took them over 4 months to do it but they finally did it.
They had demoted me 4 months ago and I took a $400+ a month hit in the wallet. They moved me from flooring to selling mowers and BBQ grills etc. Funny, my sales numbers we always excellent.
The 2 managers above me told me for weeks to get another job. They didn't know why the general manager wanted me gone. Just told me she was going to keep hammering away until it happened.
Both of them are looking for jobs. She has been eliminating the higher paid people. They start picking at everything you do and work up enough to can you. They really try to coerse you into quitting.
Sales at my store were as good as last year. They will be taking a slump as the part timers don't work as hard or really care about selling. They hired a bunch of part timers and promised them 30+ hours. Only giving them 10.
Life is good!

Checking into some traveling commercial work if necessary. I met somone that runs a company that does just that.

Oh man, and I thought Lowes was better than HD. I go there religiously to buy stuff. Never tried to get a job there but have at HD. They want no psrt of me. I guess I am on there list since I've done inspections on them and they most likely did not enjoy them.

Damn Melvin! You nailed it! They are constantly messing with everyone. You must have worked there.
They constantly schedule you 'til 11pm and schedule you to be back at 5:30am. I always refused to do that.
They use "Staff Works" for scheduling. They still have screw ups where they have no coverage in some departments.
Funny, a friend who does tarot cards did mine 2 days after we got a new operations manager. She described him down to his hair syle. Said he was pointing his finger at me and saying "he's next." Sorry bastard is from Tuscon. We need to send him back!

About 20 years ago I was told by one of their employees what the Walmart model was. The department managers were supposed to find out what all the competing businesses prices were for their items within the stores competitive area. They would set their price at 6% below the competition's lowest price for those items. It's all done by computers now. That is why prices are different at each store. I was visiting NJ a couple of years ago and went to a near by Walmart because they had the best price on a camera that I wanted to buy. It was about $270. When we got to that store. They had none in stock. I asked if they had any in stock in the area. They gave me the address of a Walmart about 7 miles away. When I got there the camera was priced a little over $20 more. I had forgotten the Walmart model. Within 10 minutes the girl at the cash register had already confirmed the other store had sent me there, what their price was and that they had not informed me of a price difference. It took me an hour more to get them to stand by what the previous stores price was. They sent 2 lower management people before finally sending the on sight store manager to talk to me. Their would be a 15-20 minute wait for each to show up. I told them that I wouldn't have driven there if they had told me it was $20 more. I was pissed. I no longer automatically head to Walmart.

local Walmart had the Gran Torino on sale for $19.99. I told them Target 35 miles away had it for $13.99. They refused to price match out of county. There is no competition in my county! So I happened to be in Nashville having dinner next to Target. Got it for $10!!
I am sure I will have to fight Lowes for my unemployment. It takes 6-8 weeks for the state to OK or deny my claim. I filed 1 month ago. :(

Walmart in Ark sold precription drugs for less than cost til they ran the other pharmacies out of business, Then hiked their prices back up. Illegal most places, but not in their home state.

and Kmart and meijers and like very other party store up north
even some of the gas stations too that pose as a local food mart
my advice is stock up on your ammo. can always use a towel as a diaper. till they get potty trained.
