when's the last time it snowed in austin? lived there 80-84, don't remember any. no measurable snow in dallas today, brownwood, texas broke it's all time record w/4".
this was off my front porch two weeks ago. power was off for 3 days, back on the day before it all melted away. 12" broke the 32 yr old record.
buddy loved it(my dog). glad we don't have to put up with that shit all winter. feel sorry for those that do. if i need snow i'll go to colorado.

We almost got snow here from that last storm but it was still to warm. Lots of snow up in the mountains. Yes we do get a dusting all the time here in the Sonoran desert down to 3000ft elevation. Pretty normal thing.

Looks good up in the mountains, kills all them wood borer bugs off.
Just like Glenn Beck said, you'd have to be an idiot to think that these winter storms we're getting disprove global warming... But of course that part was edited out for all those that don't actually watch or listen. He even played the edited version then the unedited version on the radio the other day. It was pathetic, they're counting on none of the progressives to actually objectively watch or listen to him... and it's obviously working. Again, for the ump-teenth time, way to be objective guys........... At least I do watch MSNBC from time to time(so I can judge the level of BS for myself, which is pretty high BTW), how many of you progs actually watch FNC?
Wasn't the earth a ball of lava at one time?

Global cooling has been happening since the earth was formed.

There have been as many as 3 ice ages
10,000 years ago, wasn't ½ of North America covered in ice?

There have been numerous magnetic pole flips.

All caused by human existence.... Right?
Anyway you look at it, pollution is bad for the economy and your health. And I don't believe that any country should be exempt from international pollution laws letting other country's bear the weight of keeping the earth clean.

But as you know we have plenty of superfund sites out there getting cleaned up at our...tax payer expense. To ignore that is just plain ignorant. I try and educate my customers on the benefits of green flooring products as much as I can and I recycle my trash, plus I stopped buying those plastic water bottles as well.

A healthy clean America will be a productive America as will the earth itself. No matter if we are freezing our sweating our asses off. :)
To me one of the most overlooked aspects of most green practices is how much money they can save. I think man caused Global warming is total horse shit(actually I'm totally undecided about the whole issue because it's so infested with politics that I don't know what to believe yet, but I'm leaning towards total horse shit for now lol), but I still want to have a smaller gas bill each month(so I keep my house at 45* in the winter months, just high enough to keep the pipes from freezing LOL), I drive a vehicle that will save me money on gasoline, I don't have A/C in my house to save on the electric bill during the summer, I recycle to lessen the amount of garbage I produce(I guess that one doesn't really save me any money, but it's not really that much more inconvenient and IMO a good practice), I get my water delivered in those big ass 5 gallon jugs, I'm in the process of killing the grass on my hills and spreading baltic ivy to reduce mowing the grass, as well as some other things that I can't recall off the top of my head.

What I don't want is to pay way more for my energy costs so that we can lower the average temperature of the earth by an unknowable percentage of a degree when in reality the whole thing is completely driven by politics. But that's just me.............:)
dallas was predicted to get 2" snow yesterday. we didn't get any. if they can't predict tomorrow's weather accurately what makes you think they have a chance in hell telling us what's going to happen years from now?
other than ice cores we have no accurate weather data older than 75yrs or so, and by today's standards some of that may be in question. the ice cores are only a microcosm of their area and the ice is only so deep. we're talking parts per million here.
the earth has gone through many weather cycles, even before man got here. it's audacious to think we can affect it in any significant way. one volcano will wipe out anything man could do. carbon dioxide is a poison? give me a break. follow the money, it's all about control. light bulbs anyone?
what part of Greenland do you not understand? it changes. we didn't do it and we can't fix it.
sure, i'm for recycling and green energy that works(w/o govt subsidies), cleaner air and water, all that, but that's personal responsibility, that's what we should be teaching our children instead of trying to scare them telling them that mankind is a menace on this planet and we should all atone for it. more control.
republican/democrat shouldn't be the line, conservative/liberal is. how many of you REALLY want more govt control in your lives? fix the roads, pick up the trash, catch the bad guys and stay out of my way.
Precipitation of any kind is good around here. Beats a drought any day.

Left to our own devices as far as pollution is concerned just don't work. Like I mentioned before, superfund sites, corporations will pollute to save a buck endangering our kids future health.

Look at the Great Lakes for instance. They are just now getting some money for clean-up. The Great Lakes hold 20% of the Earths freshwater!! And what did we do to it? Piss in it. If you think ignoring pollution has no effect on earth and our health your crazy. Billions of tons of pollutants in our air every day does nothing? C'mon, seriously?
Those graphs are all greek to me. I'm certain I could come up with similar type graphs from ice cores a mile deep that tell a different story.

So what's pollution got to do with a bunch of bureaucrats telling lies about global warming to get research funding?

Whats wrong with research funding? What...you don't like science?
great posts melvin. wow
i never pissed in any Great Lake.
we have OSHA and EPA to control things like that, tho both org's seem to concentrate on many of the wrong things, and come in like assholes that don't really know what they're lookin' at and have no consideration for anything but their rules. gov't employees. on the realistic side, both of these org's need to be there, just as long as they don't overstep their bounds.
ice cores? say it gets above freezing on some hot summer day, small fraction of it melts. it follows gravity, contaminates lower layers. we were already talking microscopic particles here.
why does the gov't need to study why crickets chirp and other such nonsense. if it's a viable study then the mean greedy capitalistic corps will jump on it if they can make a profit on it. if you see a chance to make a profit don't you jump?
it's called business. the other part is called the weather.
I like the science behind it but really, each side has science that seems to trumph each other so who do you believe?

All I know is it keeps getting hotter and hotter longerand longer out here and lots of other places around the world. Percentages of carbon monoxide keeps going up and up and china is building coal fired power plants like every month. Just how long can the earths atmosphere take all that abuse?

I was amazed to hear the other day that the Great Lakes hold 20% of the earths fresh water. I never knew that. Thats a HUGE percentage!
Yes and your short sighted memory seems to have forgotten all the exteme heat deaths and record high temps from the last few summers. So, whats that mean?
