Let's talk flooring!

Alls I know is the home is in Shaker hts. Ohio. Built in the 1940's and the planks are 3 1/4 inch.

Sure looks like white oak to me. Looking at the wood rays, some appear to be red oak. There are a few that look like they could be white. With all the sub species of each sometimes it can be tricky.

Looks like you may have a few boards to replace. That will make it much easier to tell red from white.
After looking a little closer I see other characistics that say white oak.

I figure it is probably a little late now but I just signed up. Dan's right. Mostly WO. Looks like a few species slipped in here and there. They have used some #3 it looks like, Usually #3 has end runs where they change species at the mill and throw it all together and sold at a discount. I used to buy it for repairs. Would get a little walnut, ash, WO,RO, maple and hickory for less than a buck a foot. A lot of #2 flooring is made with #3 boards with the bad spots cut out or turned reverse to the face side. Dan could tell you more about the fun of changing species at the mill and keeping it from getting mixed up.
