Turning Off The Internet

I've recently heard about people saying the President wants to be able to turn off the internet in case of a crisis. Well thats pretty much impossible. Recent events in Egypt caused the government to shut down their internet but I seriously doubt all communications can be turned off like sattellite phones and such. Read this article. And lets not forget proxy servers that enable people to surf anonymously in places where the government

censors the internet. I happen to like proxy servers myself on some forums. It's your right to hide your identity if you want from snooping people.
