Let's talk flooring!

We had a project where the homeowners were never happy with the 1-1/3 x 5/16 planesawn white oak flooring that had been installed within this mid 1950's tudor style home up against 1-1/3 x 5/16 Q-sawn white oak flooring so they removed the P-sawn and install Q-sawn with 3 bdrms and their kitchen area. The kitchen area was the last remaining area that we sanded for them on Thursday and friday which had quite the undulations running throughout the floor. I sanded on angles and straight to get something that was relatively flat to no avail as the digs were virtually impossible to not have. So we decided to screen with 60 to remove dig marks that had been put into the floor and then filled the floor. The filling accomplished 2 things 1st it help positively fill all nail holes and 2nd showed any digs that I didn't see when screening with 60g. We then screened the fill off with 80g before having Joe ROS the entire perimeter followed by a 100g screening prior to staining this floor, only 2 digs remained before we screen and were scraped out. The floor was stained today and 2 coats of finish applied this afternoon/ evening and the floor looks incredible......

hey Dale,  need your input... just got a ufo, gona ask what your sanding schedule is with it...
depends on the job.....
Dal;e, I can see it in my minds eye......beautiful.
How bout a picture of this masterpiece there sunshne?! So you are saying you went from drum sander to screen on ufo? Just don't see how its possible. Tried mine several times and still am not satisfied with the results. Have the thing on the shelf in the garage collecting dust. This is the 2nd one I bought and cant seem to fit it in my sanding schedule. Don't you get or see some striping over the knots in the floor? Maybe i'm putting my head tooooo close to the floor when inspecting?? Just a thought.

Sent to your phone sunshine........

Yes that's what I'm saying, 100g on the BM then 60g screen to remove the digmarks, filled and 80g to get the fill off and then 100g screen to finish up and then stain Early American on quartered white Oak
