Going to see an old floor, to fix?

Well some of you might know from the "other" floor site, that I had a problem with Visions stain by Basic. This job I have to look at Sunday was a Visions job, 9 years ago.. I had to resand the entire house on my dime because of the stain failure. I did finally get a check from Basic for $6500 just last month. This was year 2000 dollars! Maybe $8000 today. They admit nothing, LOL
Anyway, when resanding, I had to match the deep red color of the visions stain, cause that's the look they paid for.
I did the unthinkable and added red sedona to the Duraseal poly. Stain, two poly coats and one clear coat. All was well till last week.
The house was sold and the new owner had some painters in. yup they taped to the floor.
Forgot to mention that the floor had seen it's last sanding, pretty close to the T&G
Now I have to break the news to the new home owner that he needs a total floor replacement due to the painters pulling off the finish, cause he wants it like it was.............
