Flooring Installer .com

Let's talk flooring!

I just installed some 3" Prefinished Brazilian Cherry with 6' L-shaped length of nosing at the basement steps. The Existing newel post and railing system was removed { Old Newel had no extended bottom post inserted thru sub floor to fasten to joist, just lag bolts hacked in thru the side of newel. The Newel that we are putting in it's place has a post, so my question is how or what would you recommend me using to bore a hole thru the flooring and subfloor to accept the post and let the Newel seat on top of the floor????

I'd have called you but I lost my previous cell awhile back with your number in that phone so I no longer have yours.....

1) can you get to the joist to lag from underneith?
2) Did you already lay that section. If so would it have made sense to cut a square out of the sub floor, cut the leg of the post in half, lag it to the joist and the shoulder cut sit on top of the sub priorto the install?
3) Fine saw
Groover my fine gentleman,

There are reasons why the Newel was not installed prior to the installation of the floor. I am not concerned about getting the Newel back in place, I was just wondering if the Tool man had some neat tricks up his sleeve ;)

I'm hoping this Forum is going to be something to look forward to participating in. And so far I'm impressed with the knowledge and posts, BUT .... There's a time and place , what a bullshit, embarrasing, childish pissing match :(.
Dale not sure if you want a skirted look at the bottom of the post but I recently used the the post mounting kits that come with oak trim. I was skeptical but after installing everything went in straight, plumb and tight as all hell. You could hang off these when it was done. Picked them up at lowes
