Chris,

I agree with Marco that risers are better done with a scraper.
Sometimes.. The pics I posted of that staircase.... That was so damn ez with the orbital. I put it to the risers and within seconds I was down to bare wood.. I couldn't help but start laughing.
I agree that there are always exceptions to the rule...............Suffice to say IMNSHO scraping them is usually the best option ............
dale, how long do the mirkka screens last compared to, say, rubin 80g?
I'd say that we were using close to twice the regular H&L discs compared to the Abranet discs, but I wasn't as concerned about the cost difference per disc as I was about the Dust pick up, time actually spent sanding and overall quality of the finished product..................
on a side note, saw a new toy for the multimaster friday, 5" round velcro type sand attachment. special pad, has holes like normal but they're vented towards the center for fein's vac attachment. $37 msrp and you get a few pieces of paper, regular paper fits, similar pad for most manufacturers is $15 to $20. will fit supercut with a star attachment. don't think they're shipping them quite yet, taking orders.
Choppy.. I got that for FREE when I bought my MM 2 wks ago! I don't need it but f it! Its a new tool-thingy.. I havent' used it yet...
didn't get to use one, don't know how aggressive.......
maybe they just came around to your neck of the woods first.......
Do I need to buy their vac(festool) in order for the sander to plug into it or does the 125 rotex plug into a regular wall socket?
the rotex plugs into a regular wall socket. you will need to get a vacuum that you can turn down the suction on. the dust pick up is really efficient so even with a small vac the tool will suction down to the work piece making it hop around. allen said that he drilled for holes in the vacuum hose adapter to alleviate it, thus allowing him to run it on a regular vacuum. i compared three vacs that had adjustable suction, fien, festool and bosch. i when with the bosch cause it had acouple of more features and more power. they are sold at whitecap. all are really good vacs though.
I'm not sure what you're talking about Geo but we run our 125 on a regular vac without an adjustable suction feature and there is no hop-along-cassidy.......
Here's my adjustable suction accessory =D
