Permalink Reply by Everett on August 2, 2011 at 3:36pm That should have read "...then doing another round the next day during the job isn't really doing it for me." So we're not making extra trips there but it's still a pain. So what about the every board is a slightly different color thing I mentioned? Long ago we were trying to match an existing floor and doing samples on single boards was messing with us, one color would look good on one board but not match at all when done on a panel... so do you just pick boards that are in the middle of that color range? Sounds like a way better system than what we're doing either way.

Like I said most can easily pick out a color from a relatively decent sized sample, there are exceptions that need the color applied directly to the floor and if I am there then I really don't mind as it doesn't take that much time BUT you need to get the color range narrowed down. I'm not going to apply 20 stain colors to a floor for you to choose from, you choose a couple from the samples and then I'll do a floor sample if need be if you want more than that then you'll pay for the service.....
