Let's talk flooring!
CHALLENGE:
- Minimal time for installation
- Unusual floor elevations
PROBLEM:
High-end fashion retailer Fillipa-K in San Francisco, CA, had just one month to open before the start of the critical holiday season. In addition to several other construction projects, a designer concrete floor was needed.
SOLUTION:
ARDEX SD-T SELF-DRYING, SELF-LEVELING CONCRETE TOPPING, along with ARDEX EP 2000™ SUBSTRATE PREPARATION EPOXY PRIMER and ARDEX CG™ CONCRETE GUARD™, was chosen to create the designer concrete floor. ARDEX SD-T is available in gray or white and can receive integral colors and topical stains that are approved for use with standard concrete, so design possibilities are practically limitless.
The entire flooring installation took less than two days to complete. On the first day, the floor was shot blasted and primed with ARDEX EP 2000. Because ARDEX EP 2000 requires just 16 hours to cure, the ARDEX SD-T installation was able to proceed the next day.
ARDEX SD-T is a self-drying material, meaning that it uses 100% of its mix water for hydration. As a result, ARDEX SD-T is ready to receive a waterborne, thin-coat sealer as soon as it has hardened, which typically takes just 2-3 hours under normal jobsite conditions.
Just 3 hours after the ARDEX SD-T was installed at the Fillipa K, ARDEX CG was applied, and regular construction traffic was able to resume 24 hours later.
