CASE STUDY: ARDEX concrete topping used to create dead-level studio floor

CHALLENGE:

- Dead-level surface required for rolling camera equipment.
- A decorative concrete floor was desired.
- Limited downtime allotted for installation.

PROBLEM:

When the Day Star Television Studio in Dallas, TX needed a perfectly level floor with a designer look, they turned to ARDEX for a solution. The existing floor encompassed 9,000 square feet over five rooms and had level variations up to 1” in some areas. In addition, the installation had to proceed quickly to minimize studio downtime.

SOLUTION:

With the use of lasers for accurate placement, a perfectly flat, smooth and level floor was created using ARDEX SD-T SELF-DRYING, SELF-LEVELING CONCRETE TOPPING. ARDEX SD-T can be installed neat at depths up to 2”, easily meeting the depth requirements of the existing floor. Additionally, ARDEX SD-T is suitable to receive topical stains and integral pigments, allowing the installer to provide the designer look that the customer desired.

To accommodate the minimal downtime allotted for this project, installers used the ARDEX Levelcraft™ Automatic Mixing Pump for a quick and efficient installation. Moreover, because of its self-drying properties, ARDEX SD-T can receive most sealer applications in 24 hours or less, making it ideal for this fast-track application.

Hi, Stephen,

The pumps are available for rent through your ARDEX distributor. I do not have pricing information.
