Let's talk flooring!
CHALLENGE:
- Large renovation: 404,000 square feet over 11 floors
- Weight restrictions on above-grade floors
- Less than 3 months to complete
PROBLEM:
When the former Securities and Exchange Commission Building at Liberty Square in Washington D.C. went under renovation, leveling was required to correct floors that were up to 3” out of elevation. On the above-grade floors, a weight restriction was specified of 16 pounds per square foot of fill material. In addition, with just 3 months allotted for the renovation, fast-setting products were required.
SOLUTION:
ARDEX LT-65™ LIGHTWEIGHT, FAST SETTING CONCRETE FILL SYSTEM was chosen to solve the unique challenges of this application. ARDEX LT-65 can be installed from a minimum of ¾” up to any thickness, and, when installed at just under 3” thick, ARDEX LT-65 weighs less than the 16 pounds per square foot required for this project.
Additionally, ARDEX LT-65 is ready to receive a leveling course in just 16 hours, regardless of the thickness of installation, which contributed to the project staying on schedule. ARDEX V 1200™ SELF-LEVELING FLOORING UNDERLAYMENT was chosen to level the floors prior to installing the selected floor coverings.
