CASE STUDY: Cracking tile installation fixed with ARDEX

CHALLENGE:

- Uneven substrate causing tile to crack


PROBLEM:

When the tile and grout installed at the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage, CA began to crack, it was determined that an uneven substrate was causing the underlying sound installation system to move. ARDEX was called upon for a leveling solution and also was able to offer an entire package for replacing the flooring installation.



SOLUTION:

Nearly 3,500 bags of ARDEX TL 1000 SELF-LEVELING UNDERLAYMENT were poured to ensure a smooth, flat surface to receive the sound insulation system and tile. The tile was then set with almost 3,100 bags of ARDEX FB 9 L™ POURABLE SHEARFLEX® MORTAR. ARDEX FLEX SANDED™ FAST SETTING, WATER REPELLENT, FLEXIBLE GROUT and ARDEX FLEX CAULK™ SILICONIZED ACRYLIC COLORED CAULKING, both in “Antique,” were used to finish the installation.
